School Trustees are there to protect students, that’s what Neufeld had been doing for over 20 years, but SOGI 123 agenda trigged some alarm bells. As Neufeld spoke up, those involved in the SOGI 123 agenda tried to put pressure on him to make him silent. Former Waterloo ESL teacher Caroline Burjoski is suing the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) to try to deter other school boards from “silencing” teachers and parents who may have a different ideology than woke bureaucrats and trustees.
“What happened to me shows how far our school board has fallen,” she told attendees at a recent speaking engagement in Waterloo called Education at the Crossroads.
“We must recover our democratic right to speak without fear of intimidation,” she said to a packed conference room with an equal number of people listening online.

Mayor Craig Shubert made the statement during a board of education meeting after multiple parents complained about the content of some writing prompts contained in a book called “642 Things to Write About” provided to high school students enrolled in a college credit course called Writing in the Liberal Arts II.
Parents said there was a prompt that asked students to “write a sex scene you wouldn’t show your mom,” and another which said “rewrite the sex scene from above into one that you’d let your mom read.” Another prompt asked students to drink a beer and describe how it tastes. Parents said they felt these writing prompts and others were not appropriate for high school students.
Another speaker said the material was “disgusting” and that it amounted to “grooming.”
