Over 20 States trying to Criminalize Hormone Therapy
Jan 9, 2023 – Eva Kurilova
By now, you are no doubt familiar with the notorious Gender Unicorn, a teaching tool that uses a cutesy purple cartoon unicorn to explain the concepts of gender identity, gender expression, sex assigned at birth, physical attraction, and emotional attraction.

Created in 2014, this nonsense graphic is the perfect distillation of gender identity ideology. It presupposes that sex is “assigned at birth,” that intersex is its own sex, and that “male” and “female” are identities.
The graphic is used all over the world in primary schools, post-secondary institutions, and a myriad of other contexts where people need to be inculcated into gender identity ideology.
Not only is this disappointing in and of itself—it somehow becomes even worse when you find out that one of the people behind the graphic is none other than Eli Erlick, a trans activist who illegally distributes hormones to children and has been accused of sexual abuse.

But let’s back up for a second.
The Gender Unicorn was created by Trans Student Educational Resources (TSER). According to its About page, TSER is “a youth-led organization dedicated to transforming the educational environment for trans and gender nonconforming students through advocacy and empowerment.”
Erlick is a co-founder of TSER, which he and another trans-identified male founded in 2011 when they were both just 16 years old.
In 2013, TSER launched an infographic series, of which the Gender Unicorn remains the most popular and widely used.
Since then, the smiling purple cartoon has popped up seemingly all over the place, sometimes where you might least expect it.
It is one of the teaching tools of SOGI 1 2 3, a Canadian program that pushes gender ideology into K-12 schools. Perhaps even more bafflingly, the Gender Unicorn was featured in Biathlon Canada’s new gender inclusion policy, which allows men to compete in the female category based on nothing but self-identification.
Let it sink in that a sporting organization used a nonsense cartoon graphic to form the basis of a policy that destroyed the female category.
And who is Erlick that all of these organizations and institutions should be using a graphic created by TSER as a teaching tool or policy cornerstone?
Well, in August of 2022, Erlick came to widespread attention when the popular Twitter account Libs of TikTok shared an Instagram post where he boasted about sending “hormone therapy” to “trans youth.”

This caught the attention of conservative commentator Matt Walsh, who noted that sending drugs (including testosterone, which is a Schedule III controlled substance) to children across the country is a crime. Both accounts then encouraged their followers to report the scheme to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Walsh also reported the drug-smuggling operation to the University of California, Santa Cruz, where Erlick is a Ph.D. candidate.
Surprisingly—or, perhaps, unsurprisingly in this day and age—the university released a statement declaring that it “strongly supports transgender members of our community” and “transgender rights are human rights.”
As of December 2022, Erlick’s illegal drug network has faced no legal action.
One would hope that this is the extent of Erlick’s concerning activity but, unfortunately, there’s more.
As Reduxx reported in August 2022, Erlick has also been credibly accused of sexual assault against several trans-identified teen girls.
It should not be considered a stretch to say that Erlick’s trans identity and prominent position within trans activism have protected him from any real scrutiny by the trans community as a whole.
All too often, we find out that these are the kinds of characters leading the charge for gender identity ideology in our schools and other institutions.
It’s time to ditch the Gender Unicorn and all of the terrible ideas it promotes as the rotten fruit of a very rotten tree.
