Let’s first look at the their respective definitions:
- A groomer is someone who builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them.
- A pedophile is a person who is attracted to prepubescent children, specifically ages 6–10.
A pedophile is a person who is attracted to prepubescent children, specifically ages 6–10.
The difference that you can see from the two definitions is that the former is a child abuser, and the latter is merely a person who is attracted to prepubescent children. One inherently harms children (the groomer), the other does not (the pedophile).
