Concepts, myths and dimensions of human sexuality were the topics developed within the therapeutic conversation: “Sexual Education”, aimed at young people involved in crimes against freedom and sexual integrity, who have non-custodial measures of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies (IEI ) carried out in the province of Panamá Oeste.
With the Hortensio De Icaza library as the venue, the activity had an auditorium made up of 25 participants, in addition to family members who joined the presentation sharing their points of view and criteria regarding the sexual behavior of young people, clarifying doubts and acquiring new relevant knowledge for understanding and handling the circumstance they face.
“Studies have revealed that the subjects who commit this type of crime have been victims, before becoming perpetrators. They keep that information in the unconscious and then they tend to reproduce the event with other people, what we are looking for is to prevent this cycle of physical, biological and psychic damage from continuing to repeat itself, so that they become aware of what is happening and can stop ”, indicated Elías Ibarra, clinical psychologist of the IEI, facilitator of the talk.
Themes focused on the levels of consciousness, preconscious, conscious and unconscious of Sigmund Freud were developed, with the aim of defining the concept of sexuality, the implications and areas that concern it, biological structures of the female and male genitourinary systems. “Most of those involved in situations of sexual assault are unaware of these topics, they only seek a relationship of dominance over other individuals, hence the importance of educating to correct this conception,” Ibarra continued.
Celina Bennett, director of the Department of Sanctions and Non-custodial Measures and Young Adults Section of the IEI, expressed her gratitude to the parents for the remarkable attendance and participation in the conference, demonstrating their interest in supporting the pedagogical and resocializing process of the children.
The program that complied with the Health Axis of the Comprehensive Intervention Model fulfilled the objective of updating, instructing and making attendees aware of the consequences generated by sexual misconduct and the responsibility of knowing how to prosecute and direct them appropriately so as not to reoffend in sexual misconduct. same faults.
